Austin singer-songwriter Parker McCollum has hit several milestones since releasing his first album, The Limestone Kid, in February. His latest achievements include a No. 1 ranking on the website for his second single, “High Above the Water,” and making his debut at iconic Fort Worth roadhouse Billy Bob’s on Oct. 8. McCollum will make another high-profile appearance on Friday, Oct. 9, at the Conroe Cajun Catfish Festival.

Clearly, McCollum’s mix of engaging melodies and memorable lyrics is chiseling a foothold among fans of honest, authentic country and Americana. He’s already found himself at the top of Spotify airplay lists in Fort Worth and Plano, two major Texas markets, and at No. 3 in Garland, with “Meet You in the Middle,” the first single from his PYM Music release.

Tastemakers praising his talents include Justin Frazell, program director of Fort Worth’s 95.9 the Ranch and host of the nationally syndicated “Texas Red Dirt Roads” radio show, and John Nova Lomax III, who analyzed those Spotify lists for Lomax compared McCollum to fellow Texan Hayes Carll, who happens to be one of the young singer’s influences. labeled McCollum’s work “startling and original,” and praised, “This youthful, spirited album greatly evokes a widescreen, adventurous landscape, and the music is mighty fine.”

Produced by Corby Schaub and featuring renowned players including pedal steel wizard Lloyd Maines, bassist Harmoni Kelley, pianist Chris Gage and fiddler (and Texas Music Office director) Brendan Anthony, The Limestone Kid references the ranch McCollum’s grandfather owned in Limestone County, Texas, where McCollum spent his summers working his way toward adulthood.

Now he’s working his way across Texas, with dates through December in Dallas, Austin, Luckenbach, Conroe (his hometown) and many points in-between. McCollum’s energetic, enthusiastic live performances have drawn capacity crowds to such iconic venues as Gruene Hall and Cheatham Street Warehouse, and he’s just getting started. As The Limestone Kid proves, he’s a rock-solid talent, ready to carve his name onto the list of top Texas talents. Check out the TOUR page for the latest schedule.
